Why Did This Happen?
Well i just recently fixed my passenger side trans mout a couple of days ago i was driving not beating on it or anything and my motor almost fell out of my car!!!
the rubberpart of the mount was still attached to the frame and the metal plate was still attached to the trans just not attached to each other. i thought the bolts broke but on further inspections the bols and their respective nust were sill attached it looks like the bolts just ripped through the metal plate! my car had been having shifter movement problems for a year or so and i'm not using the front mount and all the other mounts look fine even the trans mount looked ok.
has anyone have this happen to them or know what could have caused this?

ok i read it a few times and i still dont understand fully...
how did you fix your passenger transmission mount, which still doesnt tell me which one it is, there are three...
and mounts just wear over time, so, you have to replace them if they are bad, that is why it feel out...

sorry its the passenger side, side mount the one that bolts by the battery i ultimatley had to replace the whole thing plate and mout. i have seen motor mounts wear and thats understandabl but the rubber mount lookd fine and the metal plate on the bottom broke which leads me to belive something might be wrong other than just old mounts and what could cause something like that its not like were talking about aluminum this is a pretty thick piece of stamped steele
well if you remove a mount(front torque mount), the others have to absorb the shock created by the torque..so your weakest mounts will fail first....happened to me..but it was the rear mounts...you have a ZC? best bet is to get all new mounts for your car, and USE ALL 4 MOUNTS, or reinforce the ones you have with urethane
thats kinda wierd because that mount is there only to absorb vibration not dampen torque. does it look like it was twisted? that might be because ur front mount is missing. why dont you have it d series has places for all 4 mounts right? the reason b series guys dont use it is because all the other mounts get strengthened
it dosent look like it was twisted it looks like it was ripped out of the plate there was still peices of metal sadwiched in between the mount and the nut. and the reason i dont have a front mount because it was trashed no rubber remaining so i just went without it

I think the point that was made was that it probably failed due to not running the front tranny mount. Front tranny mount is a torque mount. Engine/tranny assembly could have gone through repetative twisting from torque and cause the break in the other mount.

That's because those are B-series swaps with big buffed up mount kits.
I haven't heard of a d-motor with stock mounts not running the front one until this post.

motor mount inserts...like me
