Wrecked the R, ?'s on JDM front conversion
The R took a spill the other night, whole front end took a beating. I hit a ditch going about 25-30 mph, trying to avoid a Tahoe I thought was about to hit me. First wreck in almost thirteen years, sucks because I waited to get a car like the R when my insurance would be lower, and I thought I would be a better driver, but I guess my old age is catching up with me.
The only thing from the front that survived was the headlights, everything else(fenders hood rad support bumper etc) is damaged, sooooo i was thinking JDM conversion.
Any thoughts from members on how best to go about this, both from convincing my insurance and where to buy parts from. I would like all sheet metal, but need the cost to be as close to OE as possible.
If I do the conversion are there any installation/wiring issues I should be aware of, SORRY for the long post, and any advise would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I cut my own kid's leg off or something, it really sucks.

go for the jdm frontend... but eitherway you look at it you are going to end up paying more like 1000 or so more for the JDM stuff, mainly because of the markup on that stuff.
But if you buy used though, it can significantly help the cost. I wouldnt buy Fiberglass, stick to metal, even if it is used. but I would buy a whole new Radiator support new. harder to work with the used stuff except if you are only planning on changing the T-Bar.
And yeah, you need to do some significant wiring for the foglights side markers and high beams to work, the low beams are straight plug and play since they are already 9006. There are a lot of DIY instructions for that already.
Good luck with the mod.

when i had my jdm front installed with insurance covering it, the autobody handled everthing. i simply had the parts shipped to the shop and they figured everything out. i told them about the hood latch and hood latch cable, but the wiring and everything shouldn't be too hard. btw, the autobody let me purchase hids and a comptech icebox with the insurance money.
the JDM ITR FRONT uses the 91-93 Integra hood latch.. I bought mines used for like 20 bucks from a salvage yard when I did my conversion.
take a look at my sig for pics of my JDM front
other than that... JDM front end conversion install is pretty straightforward.. its pretty much like an accident repair on any other car. Any competent body shop should be able to do it with ease.
cut the radiator support, weld the new one in..bolt everything up
It took my shop 2 days to do the conv.

You can also use a 94-97 accord 4 door hood latch cable too. I had to use it on mine since it was the only one long enough that I could think of to route it back to the lever .
If you get the HID headlight assemblies, depending on what year integra you have...make sure your ABS motor isn't the huge one found on the 96's and before. Otherwise...the ballast will NOT fit unless you get the smaller ones found on the 98s and up. Then.....there's the driver's side. Most type Rs did not come with A/C....although I've seen a few with them. If you have A/C...BE VERY VERY CAREFUL IN BENDING THE LINES......or just remove them altogether...its up to you. Or...you can make it easy on yourself and get the non HID assemblies
And be sure you take it to a good shop that knows what they are doing. Like MikeyDB7 said...it should take about 2 days at least ..... if not more than 2 weeks at the most extreme. And...as everyone has said...try to stay away from the fiberglass conversion kit. It will not come with the bumper support in which you really need ( otherwise you can have the shop make brackets which would mean your car does not meet DOT standards ). That.....and from experience...99% of the time it won't fit right thus making the down time for your car a LOT longer than you'd like. Cost wise...I've seen it come down quite a bit over the years for the brand new in box kit. But like everyone else has said...used is going to be a LOT cheaper. You can try e-bay....but be very careful in reading the seller's feedback rating. Good luck with the conversion...I'm sure you'll love it

Thanks again, I'm pretty sure I'll go non-HID, with sheet metal all around, may swap it out for CF hood however.
