Default 98 dx wont go into gear!!!

98 5spd dx. Okay, the last few days the clutch has been playing games with me. You know how when you let out the clutch there is several inches during the release of the pedal when you can tell the clutch is engaging? Well sometimes, with the pedal pressed all the way in, and I begin to let it out, only the first 1 inch of pedal travel releases the entire clutch. I think only people who have had this problem are going to understand. Well tonight coming in to work it wouldnt go into 4th from 3rd. I had to pull over and jam it into first the second worked enough to get me into work. After the 1 inch of pedal travel, the whole pedal feels dead, disconnected.

what the hell is going on?

There is no pressure in your clutch fluid line, probably you have a leak somewhere, check the clutch fluid level, if its low, look for the leak, fix it, bleed the clutch, and your fine...

I pretty sure that if you had a leak in the system the pedal would stay at the floor after you push it in (at least thats what happen to mine)
Sounds to me like either your pressure plate or the clutch disc

well the clutch does need to be replaced and everything is getting ready to be replaced because my d16y8 with new tranny, act hdss and all that is going in asap. I get paid 17th. Then I order these parts then I do the swap. If this **** can just hold together until then. 20 degree weather isnt helping.

what would you do? Hope that it works until I get my parts in? What if it cant even get me home in the morning? I'm at work. **** breaks on me at the worst times/

I noticed there is not a how to change clutch fluid thread. I searched. May be a stupid question but I've never done it. So, how do I do it?

i had this problem earlier this year.............replacing master/slave cylinder, changing clutch fluid...all a waste of time

.

what has happened is the piece that holds one of the springs on your sprung hub has broken, or at least that was the cdase with mine.

when it finally breaks.....and it will..... you will still be able to drive it by shutting the engine off, put the car in first, start the car, then you can change gears by rev-matching, that is how i got home with mine when it broke. i was in kansas at the time and drove it back to tulsa like that.

well I had to get a ride home from a friend. The civic starts and as soon as you let off the brake its like a automatic; it wants to go forward. Its just like the clutch pedal wont go in far enough. Its getting towed to my mechanics today and I will have to use my bros accord. I couldnt even get it into reverse.

little update.

Tonight I checked the fluids when I got to work. (car was left there all day) and the clutch resavoir was EMPTY. Bone dry. So I filled it up and bought some extra. In the daylight tomorrow I will be able to check and see where its leaking from but for now at least its driveable.
