The hose on the top I believe goes to the evac canister(not 100% sure) and the plugged hole on the bottom i believe is a freeze plug but can't tell 100% from the pic. What on earth would cause you to want to punch this out?

B series block?

#1. That's a port in the oil return channel from the head. It looks to be a tap for crankcase ventilation. Leave it stock unless you need PCV modifications for a turbo setup.

#2. Don't drill the port for the PCV baffle. Best case scenario you will have excessive oil vapor enter the PCV system. Worst case you will hit a water jacket and render the block useless.

If he did mess with it and hit a water jacket he could just weld the hole and then even it out afterwards.

But im recomending to leave it alone.

That's what i meant It goes to a black canister on the back of your block. The PCV valve goes to it and then back in. It carries oily gasses outta the block.

EDIT, im retarded you said it right in your post. Yeah it carries oily residue.

LOL at evap canister. For some reason i get those two mixed up every damn time

The evap canister is on your firewall.
