Default tell me what you think of this

Right now i have a gsr head milled 25. I am going to take it off, sell it, and put an si head on thats not milled so much. i have a gsr block right now with 4000 miles on it. I just had it bored/honed. It has new pistons/rings in it. (pr3). I am thinking of taking off the head, and taking out the pistons etc... then honing it while its still in the car. What do you think of this? I am on a LOW budget. So please, i bet you, dont tell me to get some expensive stuff or do anything crazy becasue I CANNOT afford it. SORRY... i just cant. Ill be dropping in jun3s in the SI head.

Dont bother. take it to machine shop.
If you really want to put the pistons in, you are better off not honing it
than trying to hone it yourself IN the car.

an si head will lower compression by .3 points.so instead of a 12:5:1 cpmpression a GSR head it becomes more like 12:3:1 on a B16 head.

i already have the pistons in my gsr block. when i put the new pistons/rings in the rings did not seat correctly or something. The rings are fucked. Somehow i need to replace them.. using the same pistons... with new rings for cheap. I cannot afford to have a machine shop assemble the botom end etc... for me again. I do not have the funds.

well, if they arent sealing now, they definitely wont seal when you try to hone
it yourself.

Sam, not sure if you are the same guy, but I remember meeting some guy at acura of scottsdale who was buying gaskets for his oil pan and a new oil pan cause he hit something. Wasn't you was it? this was a little while ago.

sgt... there are more reasons than one that teh rings did not seal. i was just talking at a shop and they said they could have been installed incorrectly (gapping etc..). why would a new hone be totally useless in your opinion?
