99-00 d16y8 head and intake manifold swap on my y7
I just did a y8 head and intake manifold swap on my y7 block. I used a 99-00 y8 head and a 99-00 intake manifold with air injection. My questions is do I have to plug up the 4 air injection holes above each runner and plug up the nipple on top of the flange? I know it is necessary to do this when putting a 99-00 intake manifold on a 96-98 y8 head or on a y7 head, but since I have a 99-00 y8 head would I need to plug them up too?

Hope it helped. Here's what we discussed.
His car is something that came with a y7. A 99-00 Civic of some sort.
He swapped on a y8 head and intake mani. He didn't have the air injection holes, but if he capped the top of the air injection port, he didn't have the surging idle. He also was curious about using the Y8 injectors. I told him that I had 180cc injectors in my Y7, but it was a 1997. Since he had the y8 head, y8 intake mani and y8 ECM, he should go with the 240cc units from the Y8.

sounds perfect. You might want to plug the air-injection holes in the future if you ever have to change the intake gasket.
air-injection intake gasket = $20
standard gasket = $5

No ****? I got the normal gasket, because before I went to swap mine, I knew nothing about the AI holes. Hell, I didn't realize they didn't mate with anything on the head until I started the car and it was surging like a maniac.

I might go ahead and plug them up real soon. So you guys are saying I should get an intake manifold gasket for say a 96-98 y8 manifold instead of the 99-00?
