Installing the Sparcos - Confused.
I know there have been threads about this topic in the past - and that may be the problem. The answers I saw confused me a bit and in some cases contradicted one another.
I have a pair of Sprco Evo2 seats that I need to install. While I originally thought I would perhaps bolt the side mount directly to the floor, I have decided not to do this.
- I am 6'3", so the seats CANNOT sit higher than stock. Lower would be great.
- I do not want/need to use a slider.
- I do not want to fabricate a custom bottom mount.
- Bottom mount should use stock mounting locations.
- Something that bolts up without headaches would be ideal.
Can this be done?
Would this solution meet the above criteria?:
- Sparco EVO2 seats
- Sparco side mounts
- Wedge bottom bracket

Corbeau bracket (same as wedge), sparco sidemounts, some drilling and mount it in. If you want it a lot lower than stock... get some custom sidemount brackets made.

Thanks RJ. It looks like all Corbeau brackets come with sliders. Does that raise the height? I'm assuming I can get a Wedge bracket without sliders.
Edit: turns out that Corbeau brackets cannot be purchased seperately without a Corbeau seat.
So will the Wedge bracket with no slider sit at the same height as stock or a bit lower?

Don't know if this will help or not but I've got a Sparco Integra bracket for $40 shipped....if you wanted to give it a try first that's fine...
You could just drill the side mounts into the right location and then mount the bracket to the floor.

I would be willing to try the Sparco brackets - but I have read to stay far, far away from them. Apparently the quality isn't all that great. Thanks though.

If you're drilling into them to mount he sidemount brackets that will be fine. The problem with the sparco hardware is that the slider/bases dont line up and you have to modify them to work together, which is absolutely retarded.
You can bolt a corbeau slider to the corbeau base I have but I didnt get those... the Wedge base will be similar in fitment. Also, if you need it for track use take the bottom cushion out of the seat, it will get you an extra 1-1.5" of headroom.

Exactly what I did. I used the Sparco laser cut brackets (the ones not made by wedge).
I needed to drill new holes in those brackets to get the side mounts to line up where I wanted them to. This sat me quite a bit lower than the oem seating position.
It is completely retarded how much fabrication you need to put into the sparco stuff.

Sounds like a plan then. I don't mind drilling (just got a fun new drill).
Would a Wedge bracket require less work and provide a similar seating position?

Nope, you're gonna have to drill either way.

This is what we did w/my car.
The Sparco sliders will raise the seats too high for somebody who's 6'3".
You can just bolt the side mounts to the floor after consulting people about the safe way to do this.

I guess this goes back to my original question. Will the Wedge brackets also raise the seat above the stock position? (Remember, I will not be using sliders).

This was my original plan, but seemed to be a lot of work and not something I was ready or willing to do just yet....

Okay - then the plan is the wedge brackets (understanding I may need to do some drilling) and the Sparco side mounts.
Thanks, you guys frickin' rock...

Tru dat... the wedge/corbeau stuff is pretty heavy.

Just got off the phone with Brett at Soloracer (thanks Todd) and he can hook me up with everything I need - Sparco lasercut bottom brackets and side mounts for some nice prices.
that's cool...
yeah the Sparco bracket is a piece of **** (there, I said it!). It requires drilling all over the place...
Oh well, makes a nice conversation piece on the coffee table...

surprised brett couldn't get you corbeau sliders individually.. I guess you have to buy the seats to get them..
i have a spare slider for one seat(corbeau slider) if you want/need it.. only would raise the height about 1/4"-1/2"..
