What material should i use? (adaptor)
whats up guys? I have a little problem. I picked up a full race manifold off of Mpir3 (
) and ran into an issue when putting on my autometer egt gauge. He had the fitting for his greddy gauge welded on and the nut on the autometer gauge is alot bigger:

My plan is to get my brother to make an adaptor for me (since he can do it at school). I want to take a piece solid 1/2" pipe, put the hole through the center (for the probe), thread the inside of the pipe to fit the bung already on the manifold, and thread the outside the size of the nut on the probe is.
1) will this work effectively or is there a better solution?
2) What material should this part be made out of? SS or just mild steel?
TIA for any help

i would just cut that one off and drill it out and tig the new one on to it , cus if you start adding length to it will it effect the prob length ???
it just got jet coated so i was trying to avoid that
. But the adaptor would only pull it out maybe 1/8. I called autometer the other day and they couldnt help me. I brought this idea to one of their tech guys and he said it should work.. He alos informed me that thoe whole prob doesnt have to be in the runner. Just part of it. However, the adaptor should still live it 90+% in the runner...
