Drilling into Stainless Steel to put an EGT gauge?
I bought a Greddy EGT Gauge. Tried to drill into the Inline Pro Stainless Steel manifold...but its so thick! The drill bit managed to probably go about 1mm deep. After that, I kept breaking bits.
Is there some sort of special drill bit that I have to buy? Or do I take it to a machine shop?

Also, is it possible for me to tap this manifold? Its so thick...
I bought a tap but I dont' think it'll be able to make threads into it.

the bit you are using is probably not strong enough to drill through the stainless steel, just go to sear's, lowe's, home depot and buy a stronger drill bit designed for drilling into this material. make sure to remove ALL metal shavings from the manifold so they dont go into your turbo. when the hole is drilled, you should be able to tap it easily, just put it on the end of a socket and screw it into the manifold, make sure you dont do so crooked though.
