'91 accord, weird noise, what could be the problem?
Ok, I'll try to be as thorough as possible, and I apologize if I confuse anyone. haha. so a few days ago I was driving as I usually do, not doing anything crazy just driving normal, and suddenly I start hearing a high pitched soft squealing noise, almost like a wheezing sound (almost as if a belt was slipping or something), so I immediately turn off the heater which was running, and the noise was still there. So I approach a stoplight and slow down, and as I am slowing down, the noise starts sounding like a deep pitched wheeze, getting deeper as the car is going slower, and when the car stopped moving the noise stopped. Kinda sounded like it could be something with the brakes, but I am just not sure. It sounded like it was coming from the front right end of the car, but like I said I have no idea what could be wrong or where it could be. All I know is it's not the heater... hahah. This has been going on and off for the last 3 days, it happened twice today.
Each time it's happened, I've been going atleast 40 mph, most likely in 4th gear. My car is a '91 2dr accord lx auto trans., has about 151,500 miles on it. I'm just trying to get a general idea of what could be wrong before I decide to do anything.

judging by your description (which was very thorough by the way
) i would first suspect maybe as you said one of the belts. try to rev the engine in park and see if you get the sound again. if so i would suspect the belts, if not then perhaps something is making contact with a part that is only moving when the car is moving. (cv joints, tires...) try looking in the front passenger fender well and make sure nothing has gotten caught up in there. looking at your mileage in your post you should be about due for the second set of belts. see if you can find out how a long ago the first set of belts were changed. if this doenst help just hire a midget to ride in your engine bay next time you go out and have him/her find what is making the noise.
ahhhh midgets..... what cant they do????

it's the brake pad wear indicator. It will make a screeching noise when the pads get too low. It does that because the brake pads need changing VERY soon. I'm 99% certain that will be the noise you're hearing.
I would recommend you get them checked out soon.

Have fun with them because they are pressed on rotors which can suck my left toe. If you're planning on doing it yourself you better have air tools and a lot of patience.

Not.... How can you be so sure of a problem without even hearing the noise or even inspecting the car... Man, you should start your own business: Morthren online garage - where car problems are diagnosed online 100% accurate....
enough of this....
I suspect also the belts.... Next time it does it, keep the car running, pop the hood, and have a looksy...

ok, so I decided to wait a while before I would take it in to have it looked at, just to see if anything else developed or it got worse or anything. The noise is not as bad as it was when it first started, I think I've narrowed it down to being something wrong with the front passenger side wheel. the reason I think so is because it makes a "spinning squeal" noise (it doesn't sound like a noise caused by friction) when I drive over even the smallest bumps, potholes, cracks, manhole covers etc., and it's the only area I hear the noise from. I am positive it's not the brake pads being worn down (although they do need to be replaced), because the noise I'm hearing is different than what worn down brakes sound like. anyone have any new ideas? something to look for maybe?
Sounds like you are scraping the rotors. If its just the wear indicator change the pads SOON. Otherwise if one of the pads is gone you are grinding the rotor on whats lest of the pad, and thats not good. At that many miles it could also be the wheel bearing. Jack the front end up and try rocking the wheel top to bottom. If you feel any movement the bearing is shot and maybe the race.
