Default B18C1

Hey guys, I got a 2000 b18c1 in my ek civic, and I think its time to add some ***** to the motor, I mean 170hp is nice and all but I want more, I am thinking going turbo soon, but for now Id like to add some nice bolt ons, so thats the reason behind this tread, Id like your opinion on what parts I should get that would add a bit more power to the motor N/A as it is now, also description, and brand, whats out there for this motor, prices and stuff, links and pictures would help.

Most of all right now I want to change the intake manifold, I dont like how it is shaped for the gsr motors, I was thinking chanching for a type r one, but then I desiced to go aftermarket, since it might add more hp then the stock type r one, but I dont know what to get, so if you can help me in all these areas, and take some time and explain a bit of what parts you think should be added as bolt ons for now...

thanks a lot for your time...

honestly if you are serious about boosting that engine and i mean REALLY serious then i wouldent bother with any other mods at this moment. save you money to save up for qualitly turbo parts.

the only thing you should look into is maybe a heavy duty clutch and flywheel combo for the moment then gather your money up and buy the turbo setup.

the money is no problem, I allready got the turbo kit, well not all the parts but some of them I am puting it together, but Id like to see what simple bolt ons can do 1st... like cams, intake manifolds, sparg plug wires etc. you know... just for my own information so I know what is posible out there... kinda familirise my self with all the goodies out in the world...

Intake manifold is the 1st thing I am planing on changing, make sure its boost friendly...

look into a skunk2 or Blox intake manifold. they both seem to work well. if you want the best bang for the buck intake grab a AEBS Typhoon intake. looks kinda shitty but performs well.

like i said before think of your drive train for the added power of boost. a nice clutch and lighter flywheel would be a good idea. the lighter flywheel will add quicker acceleration.

look into upgrading your fuel system. (fuel pump, injectors, fuel pressure regulator)

as for cams......the stock cams seem to work really well for boost. but there are some good turbo specific cams out there. crower and Blox make decent turbo cams. you don't want cams that were originally made for N/A the overlap they have is not good for boost. your best choice for cams would be a set of ITR cams. they have been proven to perform well for N/A and boost plus you can beet the reliability of OEM.

ic, well right now, I have desided to 1st add a JG EDELBROCK Victor X Intake Manifold with a Edelbrock Victor 70 or 75 mm Throttle Body... I have herd many good things about these parts and specialy when your going boost, it does mad diference in hp range... what do you guys think? good way to start moding the motor or do you have other sujestions?...

75mm TB? Way too huge. What's the inlet size on that intake manifold? The best throttle body is one that matches up to the inlet on the intake manifold. How far do you want to take it all motor? Since you feel that you'll go all motor for the moment and tear it down later for the turbo, will you take advantage of adding cams by raising the compression ratio?

Well since you're deciding on intake manifold for the moment, you don't want to be using the stock ECU that is setup to run on the b18c1's dual runners intake mani. I would suggest some engine management like Hondata along with some mild cams (ITR/CTR/S2S1), the bolt-ons,. and if you're up for it toss in some pistons.
