Default Intercooler Tuck

Hey guys just thought I would share the project I worked on today. It wasn't supposed to take very long but it turned out to be an almost all day project. Anyway, on my last setup I had a spearco core that hung pretty much below the bottom of the core support(think that is what it's called). Instead of trying to trim the support, I left it and trimmed out the bottom of the bumper where the ic hung below the bumper. Didn't look very good
This time around I decided that wasn't going to fly. I still wanted to keep the support. So, a trip to home depot for some flat bar, some cutting, welding, grinding and a whole lot of bumper trimming later and it's finished. Next comes the mani and intercooler piping.
Welding was done with a Hobart Handler 140. Still getting used to welding. Here are the pics.

I screwed up welding the flat bar to the first piece in one pass and pretty much warped the whole thing but it worked. The intercooler piping will just clear under the fog light knock outs. Thanks for looking

how much of the intercooler is coverec by the bumper....just curious if you should further enlarge the hole in your bumper for more flow

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by hotrex &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">how much of the intercooler is coverec by the bumper....just curious if you should further enlarge the hole in your bumper for more flow</TD></TR></TABLE>

I think about 2 rows are covered by the bottom of the bumper and then the top rows that are behind the support. It's still plenty of flow as I'm only going for 250whp ish. I like leaving the bumper as stock as possible

drunknbass, they sell flat bar, angle and some other stuff in ungalvanized. At least mine does anyway. Not very cheap though... Thanks guys.

nice, I plan on doing a similar setup on my personal car. I am going to cut out the whole front though and completely box the upper part in an attempt to make it stronger than stock. Maybe add in a 1" tube in addition to the box part. Like this one I did but more heavily reinforced. I like how yours is pushed back 10-20mm more than this one too.
