Default Tranny Casing Swap...

i was wondering if the y7 casing would fit over the y8 tranny?...the reason why i wanna swap the y7 casing is that it has all my information on my car, like my vin number and stuff like dat...any help would be better than anything...thanks...

I am 99.99% sure that the Y7 case uses smaller carrier bearings (70mm) than the Y8 tranny (80mm). There are also other bearings that would be smaller in the Y7 case, like the countershaft and mainshaft support bearings. You could put the Y8 ring gear on the Y7 diff, and use the Y8 countershaft in the Y7 trans, but is it worth it when you will have the smaller bearings?
