i got turbo and it won't rev over 4!
my 99 prelude won't rev over 4 grand....it hasn't been tuned yet tho...just slapped it on over the weekend and took it for a test run. I have a drag gen 3 turbo kit on an h22a4...did i do anything wrong? what do i do to fix it?
you need some sort of engine management and you need to tune it. Im surprised you didn't blow your motor with you being a moron and all.

Did you install your turbo by yourself? With friends? You should make sure you know what you are doing before you start. Should have taken it to a shop and have them install n tune.
Go with aem ems since you are obdII.

the reason it won't rev past 4k is because that is right where his trubo is causing manifold presure to go positive, ie greater than atmospheric. the stock ecu can NOT handle boost, so the far is flipping out and ignition and fuel cuting and probably throwing all kinds of codes.
rule of thumb, NEVER drive a car on a new setup without getting it tuned first. if you haven't already blow your motor, then get some type of engine managment, and get it tuned, and don't drive it till you dodone so,

note to self, and everyone, dont ever do the 'slap and go.'
edit: (nice mark) btw, it isnt revving over 4k because your stock ECU is throw CEL's your engines computer isnt supposed to manage a turbo or any type of forced induction, or NAAWWSSS, so it is putting your car into limp mode. Be happy it is putting it into limp mode, so please go limp that car over to a dyno and get it tuned.
you might even be better off getting it towed there, because honestly, your engine is limp because it is a safeguard as to not blow its self up.

thanks for the advice...now tune it for me! i was just taking it around the block...haven't been driving it around. I have to take it to intech next week. Anyone know of any good tuning shops around the lynnwood area? i have a greddy e-manage...is that good enough? wish i could get the AEM ems...but cant afford it. They're selling for around 850...

I think you should tune it and get all bugs out of it before you start asking questions.

I know i shold'nt argue becuase you should always tune your car after doing a major mod like a turbo but i built my own turbo kit slapped it on and ran the car for a month. the only other thing that i had was bolt-ons to the moon including fuel and boost controller. ran 8 pounds like that and roasted. it was fun and cheap and didnt blow my engine. now i wouldnt recommend this to anyone but come on .... you remember when you first got into goin fast. that's all that mattered. give this kid a chance to learn how to do it right. props to your new turbo kit man good luck with that.

whats the resale on the aem ems i have been trying to sell mine on clubsi and importlounge for two months and be getting lowballed like three hundread was the highest
