Default immobilizer question

I have a 98 gs integra swapping with a 2001 gsr engine with ecu. The junk yard I bought the engine from did not have the ignition switch. So I just found a 2001 ignition switch with key from a the junk yard. My question is will I be able to reprogram the key to work with the ecu. Need some help. Thanks

Wait, I don't know if that is even possible.

A 98 would be obd2a while that ecu is obd2b. You should really just convert to obd1. Plus, wouldn't there have to be some wiring from the 2000+ ignition to the ecu, for the immobilizer to work?

I have the 2001 ecu and the ignition switch with the wire .came with the motor. I live in S Cal. So I cannot use obd1. My question is can the ignition switch mix with the ecu of the different cars and still can be reprogramed the key? thanks
