Default Hood pin tips PLEASE, before I drill.....

Well I have come to the conclusion that as much as I despise hood pins, I need em. Safety first. My main question is are there any tips you HT'ers can give me before i drill into my $500 carbon hood. I mean hood pins are pretty self explanitory, but any tips would be great! I have heard that a good tip is to put a "dab" of grease on the tip of the post to determine where to drill on the hood.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

id take it to a shop lol... so if they mess up they can pay for it. well id probably put masking/painters tape around where you're drilling so paint doesnt crack... um... thats about it, gl

Yeah I would take it to a shop... I went to a shop to get mine done and it seemed pretty difficult to do. You gotta watch out exactly where the hood pin is exactly going to end up on the hood considering its closing at an arch. Pay $50 bucks and get it done professionally

it sounds scary but with most hoodpins you do have a decent margin of error.

first find a good place to install the pins

install BOTH of them first

then take some white out and put a good amount on top of the pin

set the hood down evenly, wait a few second

left the hood now you know were your pins will be going

drill that area out then install the latch area
