The proper way to install hood pins?
So I bought some mugen hood pins to put on my vis cf hood, but I did a search on how to install them, and I kept getting threads like this:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=940862
The last thing I want to do is eff up my 500 dollar hood. So can anyone tell me the PROPER way to install some hood pins without making the hood chip, crack, spider, or anything else.
p.s. I just purchased a dremel for various reasons, so I'm hoping this can be used for the hood pins.

Re: The proper way to install hood pins? (alacard)
I mean, some of the guys in that thread are saying it will start to crack no matter what you do?? There has to be a way to do it without making it crack or spider.

Yes, the Dremel will work well. You can put some tape on the top of the hood where the hole will go, and then use a dab of grease on the pin itself to mark the underside of the hood. I used a small cylindrical grinding bit with our Dremel, and there were no issues with cracking or chipping.

Did you drill from the bottom of the hood or the top?
Are you talking about a bit like the one farthest to the left on this picture:

I believe I started from the bottom of the hood, and yes, the bit was very similar to the one pictured at the far left.

Thanks for the info
Anyone else have some input? (not that I don't trust you padawan, I just want a little more assurance before I drill into that expensive hood )

No offence taken. I was rather hesitant to drill into my hood at first too, but once I began and saw the results, I became more comfortable with it and was able to comfortably complete the job.

Pdiggity, all of your diy's are on hstuners, so I never find anything I need when searching on HT . (I'm using your sidemarker diy as well..haha)
Thank you sir.

haha, no problem. just an observation ...but while we are on the topic (kind of), what is the best way to measure the sidemarker location. Not the measurements of the hole itself, but where that hole sits on the fender. I couldn't figure out what to measure it off of. I even have a spare CTR fender sitting in my garage to look off of.

There is a placement picture 1/2 way down.
Just draw a line vertically up from where the sideskirt starts, and one horizontal from the wheel well arch. Intersection point is the center of the marker

Well see, I looked off of that diy. Its just that when I do that, it doesn't seem to match up with the CTR fender's hole.

there was a DIY posted here recently...it was apparently not correct, and another user posted actual numerical distances from the edge of the fender.
....where that is/what its titled/etc I cant really tell you
