how to get burned cds to work?
Newb question here. I have a 98 Accord Se with the stock radio. I can't get burned cds to play and i was wondering if anyone has figured out a specific way to burn the cds to get them to play. I could play burned CD's in my old prelude, but not in this car.... anyone?
I'm pretty sure that he knows that MP3s won't work in the car. Some stock CD players just don't handle burned disks. You have two alternatives:
1. Figure out which brand of CD-Rs will work in your stereo (higher end ones will have a better chance); or
2. Buy a new head unit. You can either pick up a decent used one for ~ $100 on ebay, or buy a good new one for ~ $200 to $250. Personally, if I were to buy a new head unit today, it would be the Alpine CDA 9826 ($230, includes shipping, kit, harness, and plays MP3s as well).
I see that you're in Tulsa, I think that I'll be there over Christmas weekend (sister lives there with husband and new child). Nice place, I really love your zoo.

I've had the same problem in my Alpine unit. It's an older model and doesn't play burned cd's very well. I've tried slowing the speed down and that doesn't seem to help.
Does it sound as if the head unit is "looking" for a track to play?
What I do is...I just let it "keep looking" and eventually it will find the track and play. The only bad part is if you change the track, it will go back to it's "search mode" again.
The other alternative is to do what was recomended above...change the format.

I have the same problem with my 2000 Accord SE. It depends on burn speed and program and CD type for me. Don't underestimate the power of a shitty CD-R. Also check that you're not using CD-RW's. Those things suck.

I'm using a CDA 7839, which is a model from '99, and I've never had it refuse a CD-R (I've never tried a CD-RW).
