Default 87 Civic Si Hatchback Weight reduction

I'm looking into doing some weight reduction. I have a 1987 Civic Si Hatchback with a DOHC ZC motor. I ran 15.8@88 at LACR so far. I weighed in at 1960lb (minus driver).

I'm going with rear lexan windows..

Lightweight crack pulley...

The back end is completely stripped (except panels)

I've got both front GSR seats.

This is just a drag race car but I like to drive it around town too.. So I don't want to be tooooo unsafe. I don't know too much about hondas. I'm a 240 guy

Ideas?

My first weight reduction is i'm going to teach me girl how to drive it at the track. The car is 1960lb. I'm 190lb. She's 100lb. 90lb weight reduction right there.. IF she can drive it good that is.

I would advise against the crank pully, the weight saved there is not worth the internals mauled down the road.
1) Ditch the GSR seats and look into aftermarket NON-reclineable seats
2) Carbon fiber as much as you can
3) Remove any sound deadening insulation that your car may have
4) Switch over to the 87 CRX HF rear drums (Aluminum)

As the last step shows, you will have to do some rather extreme items to remove weight past a certain point.

5) Hit the treadmill, lol. Damn, where is the fun of letting someone else drive your car?

cut you down like 30lbs. i think...
and you can take out your air conditioning, and heater fan. my friend pulled his out in an eg and saved 60lbs.

I know someone that removed the moon roof and all related parts out of their 87 crx si and it netted 75 lbs. They just covered it with thin sheet metal and sealed it with liquid gasket. I've got an 87 crx si and other than the glass and above mentioned, there just isn't much there!

The sunroof sounds like a good idea. I'll also check out the bumper supports. How unsafe will the bumper supports make the car? Maybe it would be cool to just put lexan where the sunroof is.. Either way i'll remove it somehow. I doubt it's 75lb but i'm sure it's fairly heavy. Maybe if it has a motor and stuff it would be 75. But mine is just manual popup.

The bumper supports, as from the now infamous "You're an EFer if..." Thread:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by CRXBart &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">you don't have bumper supports because you know your doomed anyway.</TD></TR></TABLE>
The bumper supports are a relative item as they are good at low speeds (Nothing over 20) and if you get hit hard enough anyways, things are going to break/bend.

Instead of carbon fiber, just get fiberglass. It's extremely light and cheap.

And remove your rear bumper for less air drag, thats what they do at the drags

Not a huge difference in safety, but there might be a big difference in your pocketbook from bodywork if someone gets your car when 'parking by braille'.

I'm not really worried about a parking accident. I think I'll remove the bumper support, do I remove the front or rear? Or both? I'll also be doing the moon roof. I want to get a fiberglass hood or somthing, but I can't find one.
