To gut or not to gut
I dont mind road noise really but do you think it is worth it to take out the rear seats and gut out my 95 integra? Does anyone know how much weight it takes away i have seen numbers from 30lbs-200lbs...

depends how hard core a gut job you do if you just pull out all the **** behind front seats not a whole lot but if you replace front seats with racing and rip out heating and radio and center plus all air ducting, fan etc. it will amount to a good bit

Gutting from the B pillar back won't shed anywhere near 200 lbs, but depending upon how thorough you are, you can drop 40-50 lbs without much issue.
Things to consider are: how much this weight reduction is really going to benefit what you are doing, and how this weight reduction is going to affect the way the car drives. Gutting the car will shift the weight bias to the front even more than it already is.

Re: To gut or not to gut (Ls_Turboteg)
Have you ever daily driven a car with gutted interior? It freaking SUCKS!!! Several years ago I was commuting 100 miles/day, and for one week my car was totally gutted from the front seats back while I was trying to locate and fix several water leaks. Everything behind the front seats, including the carpet and center console was out. It was soooo loud on the highway.
Then last year I had the interior out for over 2 weeks as I was putting in extra sound deadening, but I was only commuting <10 miles/day so it wasn't nearly as bad. Sucked for my wife riding around in it with me, tho.
It's just not worth it for a street car IMHO.

you didn't answer the key question of why you are doing this. and if that is all you are doing from what is posted it will be saving you about 50-80 lbs and changing the weight distribution. Something you could possibly fix with the rake angle of your car if you have coilovers, but it's not ment to work like that. Just based on what i have read here sounds like it won't do anything for you.

Before I was married, I took the back seats out mainly to keep friends from asking me to drive when going places. I took all the back panels off bc its looked neat without them. Didnt notice any performance increase, unless you consider the weight reduction from not carrying around two people in the back.

To each his own I guess... IMHO my car looked ugly as hell inside with no interior panels/rear seats/carpet.

I gutted my 240, took out the sound deadning material and at first it was ANNOYING because my integra has all the interior(which I plan to keep in place) but after awhile I got used to it. It does get annoying though when you wake up and have to go to work or something early in the morning and the last thing you want to hear is all these random noises from your car. I say keep it. But if not, strip it, and give it a NICE paint job at least.

Re: (duffman1278)
well i actually just disassembled my rear interior last night to get a leak taken care of, replace my antenna (which got stuck up then some a$$ broke), and to replace the carpet (which i have to gut the rest of the car to do) and center consoles (finishing conversion from gray to black interior previous owner didnt finish)...
I took out the rear seats rear carpet and all the plastics from the door back (2dr) to the trunk... everything is so much louder without them.. you hear every little piece of sand, suspension is much lounder, and its raining out right now and that makes a good amount of noise just driving around town i cant imagine on the highway

Personally, I like the comfort of having extra seats and full interior. The warmth, yes warmth, of having everything there doesn't bug me.
So no, gutting is not worth the weight you save, to me.

Re: (naRIPSTA)
well i guess i will just leave all my interior in and just take out the back seats so i have an excuse not to have to cart friends around town all the time lol. When i get another car as a DD ill go to the extremes.

I'm planning on gutting it when I get my car painted. Planning on taking out the door panels, carpet, and pretty much all the stuff in the rear.
example of what I want

Re: (PatrickGSR94)
Gutted Interiors suck in daily drivers.
Both my old Jeeps had gutted interiors and they sucked to drive every day.
Most the Honda guys I see with gutted interiors are hard parkers.
