when do i need to replace spark plugs?
i have 02 accord that has 40k miles, but these days, in the mornings, the engine stutters when i start the car for the first time in the day, does this mean that I need new spark plugs?
also, i have the 'engine maintenence' light blinking but I'm not sure WHY...is there any way I can find out specifically why the light went on instead of getting ripped off by honda dealers for the information? thanks.

Your light goes on based off of mileage.
Check your manual to see what services are performed at what mileage intervals. Plugs last around 30-40K and wires about that same time
.
Then again I always replace plugs and wires together along with checking my dizzy cap, ignitor, coil and plug seals

More than an oil change, typically it is checking all suspension parts, changing oil, checking fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, gaskets, valve adjustment, timing adjustment, tire air pressure etc.

Honestly I wouldn't get it done at jiffy lube
. Go to a honda technician, or do it yourself; this site is a HUGE technical resource and use it accordingly. NTM if you purchase a mechanics book (chiltons or haynes or helms manual) it will tell you exactly how to do the performed tasks
not only that but you learn more about your car because you're doing the work

press the reset button on your instrument panel and then turn the key to the first position. hold for a full 10 seconds and then it should go off.. if that doesnt work then its the second position. i always forget so i do both. but yeah. its cause they dont reset it when they change the oil

im sure u can pull off a tune up alone. spark plug gappers are 50 cents and helms manuals are like 20 bucks, but i honestly believe that u can find whatever u need here

But it is for 98-99....engine stuff should be the same.

96-00 accord
Looks like they do not make a 02 manual but like I said the f23 hasn't changed from the previous models. Only stuff that will be off would be interior pieces and body parts etc, but basic premise.

I had my tune-up done at Foriegn car place here in town that was recommended by a co-worker. The Honda Dealer tried to get me for some stuff that I didnt need. So I dont go there anymore.
It was around 300 dollars.

A tune up...at Jiffy Lube hahahahaha! That's a good one!
I wouldn't trust them to change the air filter, let alone my oil or anything else.

As for a tune-up, there really is no tune-up needed if you follow your owner's manual maintenance schedule. As for the spark plugs, just change them yourself, it's very easy to do. My '99 says that the plugs need to be changed every 30,000 miles, but I believe that the '02 may say every 100,000 miles, but I'm not sure. Read the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual.
