Default GSR Block vs B16 Block....need advice

Well ive been debating this for a few weeks now and i cant decide.....

I had a little incident with my original b16a block.....https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1046872
I have the option now to buy a JDM B16a block Built by RPM in NY (from a friend),
I know it has JE pistons & eagle rods. it was also cleaned up (milled, honed, sleeved??)
It was built for high compression & he only had it in his car a few months and was never beat on(pulled it for b20vtec). He also has all receipts...
He wants "around" $1000
OR
Ive been on the search for a GSR block (see sig) but can not seem to find one
I remember a friends old hatch with a poor mans R and it pulled hard

Should i go with the b16 or wait for a gsr??

The block will be going on a B16a head with ITR cams,ITR intake mani. and TB.

Also what head gasket would be recomended for both setups??

Thanks for any input in advance

i would go with the b18 block... as for the head gasket - use a stock one [if you want it to bump ur comperssion, just take a layer out of it]

The B16 block is generally more stable in FI applications because of its shorter stoke, though if built correctly, they should both be able to handle a good amount of boost.
