got 30k miles on the car, thinknig to change to synthetic motor oil. which one should i go with ? right now i been using Castrol GTX 5w-20. what benifits will i have and if i decide to, can i go back to regular motor oil ? please advise.

 

Regular is just fine....

 

If I were you I'd do a search on this topic since it's been covered a hundred times and seems to pop up weekly. You'll find plenty of info there to answer your questions.

 

well with that little bit of miles i would say go with synthetic if you want to spend the extra couple bucks and save a bit of life on the engine. but really unless you abuse it i don't think it is necessary.

 

I just use Castrol 10w30, and it works just fine for me, no need for synthetic on an engine w/ boltons, unless you beat the **** out of it

 

Stay with what you have now. Synthetic is not neccesary until you get a turbo or sc.

 

On a side note...if your engine has high miles on it and you haven't changed gaskets in a while...you may want to consider staying with regular...I had to ween my car onto synthetic...it tends to leak of you haven't changed the gaskets in a while...

Other advantage to synthetic...you don't have to change the oil as often.

This has tended to happen more on OLD domestic cars and trucks rather than anything newer or imports. His car is relatively new and you can change between oils like you can change between gasoline grades.
