Default Teg R security?

How come so many of you R's get stolen?

I've had mine about a month and you lot are making me parronoid that one day I'll get up and it'll be gone.

Is there certain way that they get into the cars? (Window, door lock..)

What else should I do to protect mine? I've currently got a Cat1 toad alarm and immobiliser...

You are in UK. I think it's a lot safer than in the US.

Just stay away from shops that built B18C6s in Civic/Elise/Mini.

The reason ITR's are targeted is because every single peice of the car can be stripped and sold to Integra/Civic/Del Sol owners for mega profit.
(ex. engine, tranny, interior, rims, exterior, and the list goes on)

I have an alarm, immbolizer, clutch/brake and steering wheel club.

have you ever thinking

Most Type R owners are young in age.. mostly in 18-25 years old. And these young kids all use computers.. and most of them come to honda-tech.com, report their stolen vehicles on here.. That could the reason why u see a lot of them

If you take the ratio between the # of the cars stolen each day against total number of Cars VS the Ratio of Type R stolen each day against total number of Type Rs , it is the about the same.

uh... wth?! NO it's because more type r's ARE being stolen vs other cars, independent of owner age and computer usage...

there's a big market for type r parts here in north america, everything can be gutted and dumped into peoples' LSs or EG civics, from the red emblems and dashes, to the seats and motors and suspension... (like 4-1-1 said) most owners are in NA, it's not like that in europe and the UK.

Integra Type-R = an icon of honda.

Its like the best of the best as far as integras go... and it seems like everyone else wants a piece of it. Just like he said, they take things as far as emblems to dashes... its only because people here are so CRAZY about type-r parts. Ownership age dosent have much to do with this equation... so whoever said that, you're statement is false to some degree... so many people want the seats, clusters, suspension, wheels, because they are limited production, and they are sooooo sexy , but yeah just hook yourself up with a good alarm system, keep it in the garage if at all possible, and dont let people follow you home, you should be fine, I've had mine for almost 6months now, I was VERY paranoid the fist couple of weeks havin her, but it gets easier as time goes by, just be safe with the car and you really shouldnt have too many problems, no license plate numbers in car pics, dont give ur addy out on forums, dont let people follow you home, get a decent alarm system, and keep it in the garage when ur not driving it, if you can

Would someone please post up the article that showed Integra is the #1 stolen car in the US.

and for anyone else who says anything before this article is posted about how the owners are too young or too what ever- shudup.

As for the person who started this thread, I have not heard much about ITRs being stolen in UK, but to be safe go and get yourself the normal items such as alarm with pager, and a few cutoffs that are well hidden and that cut off different parts of the car.

Good luck

I used to think the same thing too. But after a little research, it the fact that Honda are just easy to steal and everybody wants "Type R" parts. Think about it. Kids think that if they put ITR parts on their 120 hp single cam Civics they'll have a car that out handles and it faster than a similar car in stock form.

People fail to realize the ITR's are good FF cars as a result of the sum of the parts.

Anyway, after taking 5 seconds of searching by simply typing "stolen cars integra" I crossed this:http://money.cnn.com/2002/05/15/pf/autos/cars_stolen/

i can agree. You know how many other cars a day are stolen. Granted ITRs seem like they are stolen alot, but there are alot of others that are also and you just dont read about them becuase this is a Type R forum.

they come in from anywere...

my friend mikes R had alot of **** stolen from it ... all they do is pop the window out of the track and reach in and open your door.. or just simple smash it.

then they cut your battery cable "alarm stops sounding" then its gone..

best thing to do is get an alarm with "battery backup" and install the siren for the alarm somewere in the engine bay it is extremly hard to see or get to.

then have a kill switch installed on your car

then buy a club or auto- lock.

Good point...

Why do u think Saturn tops integras?

So integra owners tends to be young and careless about their auto security.. they need to take couple extra mins to lock their cars, such as auto locks etc, steering locks. etc.

many stolen Rs on here, i hear doesn't lock their cars like they should, or too lazy or forgot about them.

don't get me wrong, there are many great and smart theives out there that can break anything... but most of them go for the big boys. worth a lot of money.. not integras.

since people don't look at links... like they were saying too, numbers are skewed just 'cause of sheer numbers of say, saturns, that are sold... there's just more of 'em to pick off.

NO they DO go after integras 'cause they're easy to steal and there's a very big and thriving market for parts! when they went after my car, it had alarm, tracking, club, etc, and there were benzes, porsches and bimmers parked all around.... it's not 'cause people are young and forgetting to lock their Rs. I'm sure most who've had theirs stolen can relate.

Rs are getting carjacked now, thieves waiting in driveways and taking away caRs at gunpoint (richmond hill last year), a mother and her children were held at gunpoint while thieves made off with their 4 door teg sedan (one month ago in the local news)... Rs are getting stolen out of locked garages and secured parking... taking an extra couple minutes to lock your doors is NOT going to save your car. GUH. I hope you take better care of yours than that.

but it's not necessarily a mistake. if people in the area know how secure your car is, they won't touch it. the car is 'bait'. they'll go after an easier target.

regardless... that post says nothing about what i have now. meh!
