Question on engine management
I'm going to be doing a homemade turbo setup on my 88 sedan.
I won't be doing anything too serious yet, but was looking into engine managerment to support future upgrades and maybe make the engine last a little longer.
I think i want to go with turboedit but i'm unsure of chipping my ECU, has anyone done this on there own? i have some experience with soldering parts, but i'm no expert.
Is this a good program to use?
Any input would be great!!
thanks

damn that's trippy.....on your sedan....That's gonna be hot. I would say do a run through....homemadeturbos.net or whatever the hell it is....THose guys do everything.....keep us posted on the Fmu and all that jazz you decide to use.
there isn't much activity on homemadeturbo.com; but i'll try there, thanks
from what i've seen i need to run a pm6 ecu to run MPFI and the engine management.
For now i'm going to be running the stock d15, but i may be getting a d16y7 from a 99 DX to run.
i'm gonna put some 450cc DSM injectors in, a bigger throttle body, 2.5" exhaust, and SMIC.
Going to try to keep it as much of a sleeper as i can.

This is what I have to say:
If you are unsure of soldering an ECU, either practice on a ECU that you don't need, or trade w/ someone else, or pay someone to do it. I screwed up 2 perfectly good ECU's trying to socket for my 1st time.
http://www.pgmfi.org will have all of the info that you'll need, and they may be able to trade or socket an ECU for you.
Good luck & have fun

Do keep in mind though if you are using a D16Y it has been found that they have an oil starvation issue - https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1061007
I think i've found someone local that can solder the ECU for me.
Thanks for the info on the Y series, i've never heard of that before.
I was looking at ZDyne, but it's a little out of my price range; i'm trying to keep this a budget build; under $1000 for the whole thing including car
