Check to make sure you have the plug wires running to the right place. Also make sure you didn't lose that little spring from the coil that leads to the cap (if you had the cap off.) That could arc and cause it to backfire every now and then if it's missing...

Is the air intake temp.. Hooked up, try checking the termastat housing bolt see if its tight. 'Cause when my car didn't start I forgot to tighten the housong. Or if u got a friend that has a P28 that u could use and try starting it with that... If its chipped then that would be nice....

Ah, when I read what you got from that compression test, the first thing I think of is your timing belt jumping a couple of teeth. I know you just replaced the dizzy, but it is driven directly by the intake cam on your b16. Your intake valves could be closing late on the compression stroke. I think you should pop off your valve cover, line it up TDC and check the timing marks on your cam gears to make sure your timing is not off.

When me and my friends rebuilt my friend's Tacoma, he had the timing way
off when we put it back together and tried to start it. He ended up blowing
the head gasket. Hopefully that is not the case here.

Never even thought of that... check valve timing still just in case.
