Fiberglass dash
anyone know how to smooth and glass the dashboard and/or center console for a smooth look? i read you just "paint" on resin, but do you mix dye in the resin, or paint the glass once smooth? thanks

You dont need to fiberglas it unless you are trying to change the shape of the dash. Just use some duraglas if you want to paint the dash to be smooth like the rest of the car. Fiberglass wont stick to plastic so if you need to lay fiberglass mat down you will have to drill holes all in your dash to get it to grip onto something.
well now that I look at the links above it says the same thing. sorry for bumping this thread up

dude, freakin nice project. painting fiberglass is difficult, ask a corvette owner. you'll need this special primer, its made for fiberglas. Search on google, theres not a lot of fiberglass work on honda-tech.
Fiberglass is fairly simple once you've worked with it a few times.
I've done fiberglass kick panels, sub boxes, and various small parts and pieces.
**** fiberglassing your dash, paint the vinyl.
Plus why would you want to paint your dash? Uncle Bens 1040830948^2.

you can wrap the small parts in fleece and paint resin on the fleece with a brush then sand smooth and use filler to fill in crators then sand this smooth to make it have the glossy look when painted
for the big parts like the whole dash you need to rip off all of the vinyl and lay resin over the dash then use filler for the indents and sand till smooth
