2001 Prelude, pulling the motor out??
I have to pull the motor out of my prelude and I need to know if you can pull it from the top or if you have to pull it from the bottom of the car? It is a '01 base model w/ manual trans. Any help would be great thanks

If you got a car lift, you can just lossen the engine and lift the car up and leave the engine on the ground. If you dont, your best bet will be to rent or buy and engine lift and lift it from the top.
Probaby pretty damn easy considereing you would drop the motor and just have to lift the car up and re-do the process backards with the new motor.
From my experience motor swaps arent that hard at all.

lifting the motor out is pretty easy. We've done it a couple times at my house and got the whole thing down to under like 2 hours (starting from taking the wheels off)

I'm not 100% sure with the 5th gens,
But the biggest problem I ran into dropping the motor
in from the top was manuevering the tranny around
the tranny mount. The two studs on the tranny for
the tranny mount and the shift lever would get in the way.
It took a few times raising and lowering the motor to get
it in there right.
It helps to have a few extra people around for this part

i'm actually planning on doing the same thing with my brother in about two weeks to his 97 base 'lude.
we want to take out the engine and do an overhaul on it. so now let's say i take out the engine/tranny combination from the top using an engine lift with load leveler (so i can tilt the sucker), i want to then put the engine on an engine stand. now, do i have to remove the tranny to get the engine on the stand? if so, when would be a convenient time (before or after engine removal) to remove the tranny from the engine?

Yes, you would have to remove the tranny.
Why do you want to put it on an engine stand?
