Noise from Distributor ---- D16z6
About 6 months ago I replaced the Distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires. Everything was fine with all of it until last night. I was pulling into the parking ramp at school and head a loud noise. At first I didn’t think it was my car since hey, my car doesn’t make noises ever, haha. Anyways I popped the hood and noticed a clicking type sound coming from my distributor. Me being no too bright self started messing with the wires to make sure that they were all in there nice and tight and not paying attention to the fact that I was standing on wet pavement and holding on to my strut bar, I got the shock of my life. Well I couldn’t do much to it then since I was late for class anyways.
When I got back home I checked it all out. Took of the cap and rotor, check the plugs and wire. The plugs and wires seem fine. In the cap however was a ton of oxidation, way more than there should be. I cleaned it all out, replaced the cap with a new one I had, didn’t get a chance to replace the rotor since it was late then and I couldn’t run get another one. But nothing seemed to help it. Still makes the clicking noise and I’m not sure why its doing it or what to do to fix it.
If anyone knows what might be wrong let me know!

Pop off your upper timing belt cover and start the engine and watch the belt. If it looks loose, tighten it. I had the exact problem on my integra, I even went so far as to replace the distributor - it didn't help. My timing belt was loose the whole time and when I tightened it, noise went away... strange ? It never hurts to check if you have time... before you start spending money.

If you are speaking of the "red death" when you say oxidation, then your bearing is gone. You will need a new distributor. When it gets REALLY bad, its going to break off teeth on the crank position sensor and toss a CEL. Mine did that on my 93 coupe back in the day. It also siezed tight as hell when I shut the car off. Its common actually for some reason that these Honda distributors die like that. Just replace it before it gets real bad.
