Default Installing gauges temp/oilpress. etc....... info needed

I was installing gauges in my civic. Every thing was going smoothly as far as mounting them in the dash on the passenger side. (I'd show a pic but i can't figure out how to attach it.) Anyways everything was easy since the motor was on a stand at the time accept the temp gauge sensor. all the threads are standered. but of course the block threads are metric. what has anyone else done to get around this. plus there is the sensor for the dash do i discard this so dash doesn't work or....... What i'm using is sunpro gauges not the best know but for a budget it get things done. advice would be great. thx

i'm sure someone makes an adapter that will work. Try your local auto parts store.

I wish ? that's what i would have thought too. However noone carries any kind of adpter for going from standard to metric or visa/versa. Surely someone some where has run into this. Seeings how gauges are important role in engine management I can't believe more people haven't ran into this. I've been everywhere auto zone, advanced auto, pep boys ,napa ,rodifields, (import extreme's<------and too my dismay they were like duuh yeah we have like ten honda's and a talon out front but we don't know what your talking about. lmao after i had to explain to them where there head was located. there were like you wanna job. i laughed all the way back to my car. I guess there's the option of retabing the head but i am afraid aluminum is too weak. this is a delima. is everyone just using electical gauges or what. Give me some feed back, what kind of gauges are you guys using mechanical or electrical and brands and how easy were they too install and how you like them.

I've got a spare 1/8" BSPT (M) to 1/8" NPT (F) you can buy, as well as a remote oil line to tee off a port for the oili pressure gauge sending unit and the stock dummy sender unit.

For the coolant temp, you can either drill and tap into the upper radiator hose housing (if you have room for the probe), or buy a GReddy radiator hose adapter. I think it's the 30mm adapter. The piece features a 1/8" BSPT port for the temperature probe. You can easily chase the threads with a 1/8" NPT tap if you want to something like an Autometer that uses std thread.

Maybe this will inspire you...altho, I went back and used Hondabond instead of teflon tape since it makes a much better seal.

Thx man that's been the best help yet. I see that he went with and electrical temp gauge as least i think thats what it looks like. That maybe what i have to end up doing. What i bought was a mechanical temp. which on my car has two temp locations on one on the radiator housing which deosn't have enough clearence for the probe cause of the thermistat. the other one is on the passenger side of the head. I umped too drill this one because this is the one the dash uses and i didn't want to disconnect the one going to the ecu. O retabed it to the next largest std size and used a lot of teflon tape but, it drips It's a slow drip but it's making a mess of my cleam motor. after checking out the links you posted they talk about hondabond what is this and where can i get some. do think this may stop my drip instead of using teflon. thx.

Hondabond HT is a high-temp liquid silicone gasket. I get my Hondabond HT from the Honda motorsports shop. You can buy it from the auto dealer too, but it might cost more.

I use it on oil, fuel, and coolant fittings at tapered pipe junctions.
