Swapping A H23 with a H22 what small Performance upgrades can i DO
What other small performance upgrades can i go for coz im taking the engine out anyway...and if i get the stuff in my freinds container from japan what other stuff should i chuck in there ? I am in australia btw
thanks

thanks
You should start with bolt-ons like an intake, a header, and a cat-back exhaust system and build on from there depending on how much money you have
Hondata IM gasket.
Upgraded clutch.
H23 manual tensioner conversion.
Regular bolt-ons.
If he has some extra money to spend, get a nice flowing
header and a nice engine management system

I have a high Flow Exaust, I am thinking of a cold air intake....hows this ? where does the airfilter go though? Anyone have pics of one installed ?

Uhhhh no, I wouldn't buy that.
You can find a cheap ebay intake for 15-20 dollars
and just buy a K&N filter for it.
That's your best bet.

Cools the temperature of the air going into the motor
and is an easy modification to do with the motor out of the car.
Just make sure you re-torque them like the instructions say
after the motor is ran for 30 minutes.

don't bother with the cross drilled rotors, just get replacement OE rotors.
cheap stuff in japan? hmm. maybe some of the nice stuff from mugen, spoon, or others can be had for a little cheaper in japan, but something tells me not that much cheaper. JDM pieces would be cheap in japan i'm sure.
as far as cheaper performance mods, pullies & intake are about the only ones worth your time. maybe a VAFC if there's a dyno near you.

It's basically an insurance policy.
The h22a auto tensioner has a tendancy to fail especially
if you rev your motor high in the rpm band.
If the autotensioner fails, yourtiming belt could possibily skip a tooth,
then your motors toast.

They have a tendancy to crack, waste of money IMO.

Ok I saw an engine....its been sitting there for a year, is dirty and the solenoids the small cylindrical thingies are all rusted ,93,000 Kms...he wants 1800, Shd i buy it ? and also its automatic i have manual ..will it fit ? also can my curent A/C fit on that car as he is selling without A/C....what shd i check...he'll compression test in front of me...what shd be the data for that ?
About the auto tensioner, i am a complete noob mechanicALLy so what should i be telling my mechanic ? and the heatshield sounds good...just gotta find one in australia or ebay....so thats a definite no on the slotted/drilled rotors ?

on your motor.

SKDRCR:
Did you do the h23 tensioner conversion yourself or did you take it somewhere to get done? I'm in desperate need of the conversion and I don't trust too many people around here.

I did it myself with no previous timing belt
experience on this motor.
If you follow 2point6's write-up step by step,
it's pretty simple

The drilled rotors crack, but the slotted have a purpose. The gases and junk get cleaned off the rotor. I think... correct me if im wrong

NONE of us need to worry about the gases caused by HARD braking. 99.9% of us never take our cars to the track so you don't have to worry about this. I take my car to the track 3-5 times a year and I still use blanks. I have NO ISSUES with braking.
Cross-drilled AND slotted are a waste of money. They are popular among the "wannabe racers" so that they car show their friends that they drive a racecar, yet it never sees a second on the track.
People who only use them on the streetZZZ are actually making their braking power WORSE because you have less surface area on the rotors that the pads can use to help stop the car. It also makes the pads wear unevenly.
Sorry, I get a little heated when i hear people recommend parts they have no knowledge about.
Rule of thumb. Anyone who recommends big brake kits and slotted/drilled rotors to someone without asking if the poster is a competitive tracker has NO IDEA what he is talking about.

Tell him you want to replace the auto tensioner with a manual tensioner off of an h23.
You do not need drilled/slotted rotors.
