Default "PINING VTEC", any info???

i heard of many racers talk about "pining vtec", which from what i understand is that vtec is always engaged. anyone have info on this? how is it done, mechanically or in the computer? this is for a SOHC VTEC motor, that will be in a race car. thanks for looking or any info...

well you could hard wire the vtec seloniod to a switch, and keep the switch on all the time. Ive seen people rig that up when doing vtec swaps into non-vtec cars(sohc) as a temp solution for engaging vtec, but u could also just do that and leave it all constatnly.

Those actually get rid of VTEC completely.

There would be no purpose to keeping VTEC open throughout the entire RPM band. The primary lobes offer much better power and response down low compared to the larger VTEC lobes. There is a VTEC crossover for a reason, its where the larger VTEC lobes begin to produce more power than the primary lobes. Cams like the VTEC killers are designed for road course application, and you sacrafice low end grunt for a lighter rotating assembly, and lighter is better, when you are sustaining 9,000rpms+, which is the case in a RR Motor designed to run with the VTEC Killers.
