Simple tools to get my old pioneer deck out? Im trying to change the bulbs in my climate control but I cant get my deck out. What tools could I use to get my deck out. I need something small and thin to get in between the pioneer deck sides.

 

take any canned good can and cut yourself a couple of small strips (1"x3" or so)

 

try a hammer. or nates beat down grill, snaggle teeth even

 

I pulled my deck out of my eg. To get it out I found its easier remove the plactic cover below the deck that has a pocket. Be sure that you have remove the plastic trim around your deck exposing the two little lockers that hold the deck in place. One is on the right side of the deck and the other is on the left. You can push these up and down with a small flat head screw driver. After that the deck show be able to be free from the cage. You can now put your hand through where the plactic cover with the pocket use to be and push your deck out.

 

Eye glass repair kit screw drivers to push those little tab things out of the way.

 

I wish taking out stereos was as easy as removing CD rom drives from PC's. I'd have that **** done in 2 minutes flat

If you have the proper tools it takes far less than 2 minutes to remove your deck.

 

The civic stereo's/dashes are incredibly easy to get into as compared to some cars I've dealt with You pull a few lower dash panels and remove 2 10mm bolts to pull the stock radio, really doesnt get *much* simpler. It DOES get simpler, but not much.

With a Pio deck, all you have to do to get it out is remove the face plate. On the left and right sides, centered up/down wise there will be 2 small spring loaded clips that lock into grooves. Push the clips to the center on each side, and pull the DIN unit. This will just leave you with the DIN cage, simply re-bend the mounting tabs inwards, and pull the DIN cage out. All done.

No, to get to these pins, all you have to do is remove the face plate from the deck, and the trim panel that goes around the face. Then you will plainly see the 2 clips on either side of the face. Careful pulling the trim panel tho, its a PITA with the recessed mounting on the civics. Or it can be really easy, either way, careful if you're wanting to reuse it.

yup. more like 1 second to remove a pioneer or alpine deck if you're using the right tools and the deck is installed with a din sleeve. that's why decks get stolen so often.... good installers will install a security strap behind the deck, anchoring it to the dash.

if you have an aftermarket deck, it should come with the tools you need to release it from the DIN cage. if not, a few slim pieces of tin/plastic/CD in the right places around the faceplate will release the deck from the cage.

LOL the security guard followed me in and asked if I owned a "white civic" I told him it was clearly "frost white" sir. Anytime man! Thermal exhaust all the way! Thanks for the installation tips btw.

 

My deck won't even stay in place w/ the "cage", mine just sits in the pocket...

You might have the wrong cage for your deck.

It's called back strapping and that isn't always a good thing. If the thief trys to get a deck that is back strapped he usually tries to pull apart the dash and or rips apart at the deck with a screw driver. Thus causing you to fix more parts then just your cd player.
