Default Needles...

Is there a way to re-calibrate the needles on my gauges? I put in new gauge faces and I think they're reading high... Any way I know the speedo is! I also got new rims and tires... people say that can affect it too!? I don't know but maybe you guys can help, thanks.

Did you take the needles out.. Not the dial, but acutally pulled the needles out of the dial? If not then you don't need to re-calibrate them i doubt you messed them up most gauge faces slip over the needle. Yeah i believe you might see like a 3mph more or less if you have bigger rims ( i.e. over 19inch's )

The faces I got are indaglo and they didn't slip over I had to take the needles off... I'm very sure that the speedo is reading about 7 mph over, but i'm worried that the fuel needle is wrong... I don't want to end up stuck somewhere!

If you input the stock tire size and current tire size into this webpage it will tell you how off your speedo will read.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I could fix this problem? Should I take it to a dealership or what?

Don't take it to the dealership they'll only rape your wallet. You'd probably be better off taking it by a reputable performance shop.

Great link. I was running a tire that was one inch bigger in diameter from my stock tire over the summer and knew there was a difference but didn't know what the differences was. Now I know. I won't be running those tires next summer though but still a nice link to have for future reference.

Yeah the closest 15" tire I could find to the stock size is 205/55R15, but I've got 205/60R15 tires.. which means when my speedo says im going 60 mph I'm actually going 64 mph. That's good info to know

usually when you take your needles off and are having problems afterward, you are faced with buying a new cluster to remedy the problem.

I agree! Those things are great, comes in handy for calculating gear ratios too! Do we have a link for handy calculator tools? We need a page for general tire stuff too.

That don't sound like a bad idea. I'm in the Accord forum and the EG+ forum mostly and just between those two there is always questions like "what tire should I use.." or "what size tire fits on x.x wide rim" and so on. Granted some tire questions are still model specific like "will a xxx wide tire on a rim with xx offset fit on a 5th gen Accord without rubbing". But an actual tire forum doesn't seem like it would be to bad.

edit:
sorry for the hijack, I shouldn't of posted that in your thread.
