I've been searching like crazy for the past week, and can't find much on my problem. The car warms up and all, and then after I drive for a bit the temp gauge drops and it will blow cold air, and it has to heat up all over again which seems to take forever the second time around. Tonight, I let it idle, and the fan came on twice. I took it a few miles up the road and turned around. I took it to redline in each gear until I got to 80 mph, and the gauge went down a bit. I took it about another mile at normal speeds shifting at 3k, and the temp continued to go down, until it reached the C. I pulled over and the lower hose was cool, and easy to pinch. The top hose as well was losing its heat and was also easy to pinch. I've back flushed the system, and I just put a new thermostat in it before the flush. I have another thermostat, but I'm not sure if that is indeed the problem. What are the chances of an intermittent clog? Maybe dirt or something making the thermostat stick? Any ideas guys? The engine is an 89 d16a6, with an 86 teg radiator. all the major hoses are new, and as I said, the thermostat is no more than 1000 miles old. TIA
