Default D16Z6 + Greddy kit at 10psi... comparable to B18C swap?

Looks like for financial reasons I will be selling the B18C swap in my EG. I figure for about $2,000 complete, I can put a D16Z6 swap in its place and slap on a Greddy turbo kit with intercooler. I want to go with the Greddy kit so it will be "legal" in California. Might consider a drag kit if its going to bring considerable gains over Greddy. That might be worth removing every two years . Anyways, would a 10psi greddy kit be anywhere near comparable to my current setup in terms of 1/4 mile times. I am currently at 13.9 @ 102mph. I wanted something that would be somewhat comparable to my current setup. Anyone with dyno numbers on the greddy kit? Didn't find much on search. Seems a lot of people do the home made turbo setups.

If you build the Z6 then itll smoke the GSR at 10psi.

Torque will own off the line but turbo will catch it at top end. Why not BAR the GSR?

13.9@102mph with a GSR swap is pretty good. What kinda car do you have? Any mods on the GSR?

On my custom turbo setup and stock D16Z6, I put down 195whp/164wtq @ 6.5psi So I would says it's pretty comparable to the GSR swap.

Its using all Honda parts except the cams on the engine itself. Tranny has a 4.75 final drive also, so that helps. Its just about using the right parts together to get good results. I am sure the car would cut low 13's on slicks.

Its not about trying to make the car legal. I know I can ref the B18C no problem. The point I was looking at is I can fetch about $3,500 for my complete setup. If I could turbo a Z6 for 2 grand including the cost of the swap then I would make $1,500.... I need the money to help pay off credit cards which are killing me right now. I need to salvage my credit so I can prepare for the purchase of a house. Thus is my delima. As much as I love the GSR and would like to hit 12's all motor, I need to consider whats better for my family first... Thats what brings me to this discussion.

When is comes to family.. all this car stuff shouldn't even matter anymore. I say swap out the GSR motor and put in a D16Z6 with turbo. That way you will still have something quite comparable to your swap while still being able to pay off your credit. $2000 is enough to do it.

Its just really bugging me on some of the results I see. I figure right now I am around 190whp all motor (based off the traps)... I see people laying down **** poor numbers from these sohc turbo setups, and I know the Greddy kit is one of the weakest kits out. Problem is its also legal and cheap for Cali, so tempting. I figure 10psi max, but some people seem to have trouble hitting up the 200whp mark on these kits. Granted they certainly make more torque then my current setup... Oh well, like you said, shouldn't matter. If it runs high 13's, then I won't care too much

a d16z6 on 10 psi will own a GSR swap, unless the gsr swap has alot of mods on it

Well, I guess I will find out in the next month or so how it compares to my current setup. Just need to find someone to buy the current setup, which shouldn't be hard.

keep in mind the z6 isnt going to handle too much past 200whp... but YES definietly get a Z6 + Boost. Im doin the same instead of the mini-me + Boost, decided to just get the 1L bigger bottom end.

And yea i know it sucks to see the B18C go away but hey, your absolutely right about that, FAMILY FIRST!

If i were you, id try to get EVERY penny possible for the swap, and save EVERY penny possible for the Z6, then, id wait to see how i am financially and if i have enough money to cover my *** if something happened before id through on the turbo...

Just my $.02$
