Hi guys!

I thought I'd show you what I did tonight. This is for my car.

Material is 1/8" 6061-T6.

I made quick measurements on the car a few weeks ago, and bought some sheet and cut it up on the sheer at school. When it was completely assembled, it fit on the car so well. I'll have to take pics of how it fits with the bumper on, it's really incredible, there is like a quarter inch of space at certain spots. I'm pretty happy with it.

I haven't welded aluminum in a while, so I'm pleased with the way the beads came out, even though they are not perfect.

It is not finished, I still need to weld on some fittings for the hoses and make some kind of bracket to support the bottom of it, it's quite heavy when filled with water, so I want to make sure it's held on strong.

 

ha ha. that's awesome man. that's exactly where I had my air to water resivoir in my 88 hatchback. clean stuff!

you've come a long way man... i still remember your post on the vortex where you couldn't lay a clean bead down for your downpipe and started throwing **** all over the place Looking very good

Oh yeah, the days when I just couldn't figure out how to MIG weld for crap. I still suck at MIG, I just can't get the feel for it, I find it hard to do anything precise by holding a huge gun with one hand freehand, it just doesn't sound logical. I really respect someone who can make nice even beads around pipes etc ... like rollcages.

Well, it's a reservoir, so it works by holding a liquid. I will weld a nipple to the top and bottom. The bottom one will feed a pump which will run the water through a front-mount heat exchanger then to the air-to-water intercooler core, then back to the reservoir.

 

wait, so it doesn't light up or make cool sounds? B O R I N G !

 

Very nice welding job. Did you ever consider making that tank on a brake and have far les weld joint
