Default motor bogs at any open throttle??

the motor is an ls/vtec in a del sol. at idle its at normal speed, but as soon as the throttle is open, it bogs down and hesitates instantly.

the more the throttle is opened, the more the engine bogs.

help?

i will.

there have been a lot of posts about problems like this. a lot of code 10 and 14s, ficv, iacv, etc etc.

i know for sure its not the ficv, that was already taken off, cleaned, and the white plastic screw was turned back in.

the iacv on the back is unplugged. when its plugged in it idles kind of high, unplugged it seems fine.

so, i guess the plan is to take off the iacv, clean the screen, try adjusting the tps, check the fuel rail for leaks. the intake manifold was retightened to make sure it was on good n snug.

this same thing happened before, but i gave up and took it to honda. $400 later they solved the problem....

there are a few plugs that look the same.. make sure you have them in the right place.. check the tps connection... resest the battery .. check the codes... go from there

werd, i thought maybe i had the tps and map sensors backwards, but im sure theyre in the right places.

i do have to check the wire on the tps sensor tho from a zex kit i had installed on there. maybe the wire came loose in that.

i'm also gonna retighten the fuel rail and see if maybe one of the injectors is clogged or loose, letting air into one of the cylinders.

is condensation an issue with gas tanks? i mean the car sat for like 4 months before the motor was installed. maybe theres water in the gas tank?

the timings alright, the factory markings on the pulley were lined up with the arrow on the block, and the cam gears with those.

i'm almost positive its the tps or a vacuum leak somewhere.

thats what i was thinking so i went out and got a new filter, installed it, and it leaked from being too loose. figured it may have gotten air in the line. so retightened it, and same problem.

i need to get a cluster to check for cels.

thanks for the input so far fellas.

wait, you don't have a cluster?

at any rate, it sounds like a TPS or a MAP sensor problem. Maybe a 02 sensor, but thats a stretch. I always tell people to check that.

http://www.we-todd-did-racing....DE%3D

heres a vid similar to the problem im having. its just like this when the throttle is opened, except my idle sounds like its building up pressure, but i think thats a timing issue with cam gears where the head was milled.

at any rate, no the cluster was fried when the battery was hooked up backwards...dont ask...but now the right headlight is dim on top of that, but one thing at a time....

the tps and map sensors are both plugged into the right spots, and the tps is right where it was when it was running right originally.

fuel pump turns on, no blown fuses, i need to pick up a cluster tho so i can check for CELs. the iacv was just taken off and cleaned, ficv, head gasket retightened, injectors reinstalled, tb butterly and idle screws both proper.

the head was milled .040 and for every .012, 1 degree is advanced on the gears. theyre currently at -2.5 (dizzy at 13), +0.5. those are going to be adjust to 0,0 tomorrow and dizzy back to 16.

im sure thats why the idle is rough, but as for the tb, tough to tell.

Im assuming your tried the simple things like replacing the cap/rotor. When they go bad, it will cause some bogging.

for every .012 you mill cam timing gets RETARDED 1 degree.
did you measure tps voltage or you just looked at it?

edit: meaning stock cam timing gets retarded.

i dont think it can be timing, if it was so, you will feel something throughout the power band.

My friend had the same problem but not always at WOT, usually when he gas, lets off, then gas again.

It was his map sensor, it was going bad, but not bad enough to throw a code....my other friend knew it was his map because he says it always happens on Fords.

ok, well the idle fluxuating is fixed.

turns out after the iacv was put back on and plugged in, it idles fine, revs fine, just idles high now...and i think thats a timing problem....

so im pumped about that....

but does anyone know which way the cam gears are turned to advance them? is it counter-clockwise, like the timing belt, or opposite? it doesnt say on the gears, it only has the timing marks on them....
