86 integra will not start! getting spark, main relay good, new fuel pump....
I just finished replacing the fuel pump, filter, main relay, battery, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor on my 1986 acura integra... the car still will not start. It turns over, but will not start.. The fuel pump only comes on when i jump terminals 5 and 7 on the main relay... but still will not start when manually connected the fuel pump..please if you have any idea what it is let me know... I also need to know the location of fuse #26.. its the fuse that's supposed to go to the fuel pump, but my fuse block only has fuses numbered up to like 16 or so..
ok here is a simple test... take off you air intake tube, spray starting fluid into the throttle body... Try to start it, if it runs for a min or two then your know your not getting fuel. If you spray it in your throttle body and try to start it and it does that same thing then I would begin to check your timeing. I hope what I told you will help you... Good luck!
yes, if i spray starting fluid in the throttle body it will try to start. but thats not my problem.. I need to know why the fuel pump relay, located in the main relay is not turning the fuel pump on in the first place.. When you turn the ignition on you should hear the fuel pump come on for like 5 seconds, thats the fuel pump priming the system.. and my car does not do that.. and i get no voltage at the pump when i try to start it... For some reason the ECU or something is not telling the car to turn the fuel pump on....
from what i looked on the schemati for a 92 integra, the main relay is ran off of the battery...long story short it doenst run off of the ECU. maybe ur main relay is actually bad. the fuel pump power comes off of the main relay, not the ECU. am i right?
check if you have spark. take a sparkplug and stick it in the wire then ground the threads. try starting it and see if you see a spark. but becarefull and dont get shocked.
if you getting spark then you should be okay in that area.
now check if they are in the right position. you said you changed the spark plug wires. did you put them back on right????? check to see if your Number one pistion is COMPRESSION TOP DEAD CENTER and the ROTOR is pointing to it!! you said you changed all this stuff but im not sure if you putted back together correct. then put the wires in the write fireing order.
rememeber only pretty much 3 things to make your car go.. its FUEL, AIR,SPARK. just try looking at each one one at a time.
