Default running rich, or burning oil??

im getting a lot of black soot coming from my exhaust. it will build up on the ground if my car sits at idle. im getting awesome gas milage tho, 40-44 mpg. could the black soot be coming from burning oil? my car smokes slightly at high RPM's and burns a little oil, but the smoke isnt blue tinted at all. I put on a new PCV valve and all the blue tint went away. any thoughts are appreciated

thanks

Check your plugs - are they gloss black (oil) or carbon fouled?

It's that friggin carbon. Blah I hate that stuff. If you put your hand at the back of your exhaust your hand should smell like gas after a while.

<<<< had to scrub driveway for weeks before it got fixed.

I did quite possibly the most rigged job in the history of Honda-tech. BUT it fixed the problem.. The causes are more extensive, and will disappear when I do the swap. This was just to stop the driveway from going black. VERY TEMPORARY!
