Do you get to choose your number in Auto-X?
In Auto-xing do you get to pick a number as a permenent number or do they give you one? I am just wanting to have a big magnet made with my auto-x number. I just wanna know if I can just pick one and use it as long as I want.
Not sure how they do things in Knoxville, but in Atlanta I got to choose my own # just so long as no one else in my class already had it.
Because of the higher speeds involved, some sanctions will not allow magnetic numbers on full course road race lapping days.
Autocross mag numbers should be fine.

It depends. Some clubs will allow you to register a permanent number with them for the season. Others do not. Some people just get a few numbers, and run some derivation of those numbers every event. Best bet is to check with your club and see if they have any sort of policy on obtaining a permanent number.
Typically numbers are assigned at each individual event. You give your top 3 choices (in order) and you get the first number which is available. Usually it's your first choice, but you should be prepared to run an alternate number if you run a new venue or someone else registers your number at one of your events.
