Accord hondata questions
Alright I read about the hondata all the time, so I thought I'd look into. Yes I did a search and went to their website. A few questions persist...
1. I have a 96 EX with the stock F22B1, I would have to get a different ECU and convert to OBD1 correct? If so what's the approximate cost for the ECU conversion.
2. For now anyways I basically want a reliable fuel efficient car that's got some get up and go when I want, push button speed is fine. Would hondata help my fuel economy any?
3. Without all the hassle and money of going to a dyno, is it possible to teach yourself how to program this thing and still get some positive gains? And I belive I'd have to buy the software too, so add another $500 (that sounds pricey just for software!).
4. They got a lot of cool options like a shift light and stuff. Could you wire it up yourself and save $200 or do you have to pay to get the unlock code? Also anyone know if you can log data with a pocket pc?
Thanks fellas

If your looking for long term and planing on boosting or building the motor, for the money you'll have raped up in the hondata you'd be better off going with the AEM EMS. Its going to be cheaper in price and do just as much if not more. Plus you won't need to keep re-burning chips for it every time you want a drastic change. If you look you can get the EMS extreamly resonable for a stand alone. Contact Marty at Injected Performance. He'll give you a great price.
Trust me I went from the e-manage to the EMS and theres a night and day difference. Even though I only swapped it out because the e-manage wouldn't control my bigger injectors, I wish I would have saved my self the money and gone with it in the first place.

Yeah I doubt I'll ever put a turbo in it, at least not as my daily driver. I also didn't realize you had to burn new chips, I thought it was reprogramable! Sounds like I'll just put the money into exhaust, I don't know why the hell they make the pipe stainless steel but the muffler is a POS. ECU stuff is cool, but not if I gotta go through all that money and headache just to get it up and running.
Thanks for the input

1. Yes you will most likely be needing a p28, expect to pay 100-150 for one, then add about 75-100 for the obd jumper harness, plus at least 245 plus install of the hondata s100.
2. if tuned well it may help some.
3. for the full kit to tuneyourself expect 750-1000 total out the door costs, in addition to teh cost of the ecu and conversion harness. without a wideband or wideband and dyno you are wasting your time and money.
4. they have pocket pc software for datalogging, and they wont give you the srouce dode for their software.
