Default Canton RR oil pan

Just wondering if anyone has experience with the Canton road racing oil pans? Based on the web site info, the pans are good for RR as well as drag which has me wondering whether the baffles are oriented properly for RR use? Other than that, they look like pretty good value.

See http://www.cantonracingproduct....html

Actually just got some more info on it here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1042308

Funny I was just looking at their ad in GRM last night and was wondering about these pans also. Anyone have experience to share?

no experience with one, but it does appear to have a trap door design(similar to Doc Cortez's design?)..

i wonder how much they go for..

I believe the Moroso's application is better suited for drag racing based on the orientation of the baffles.

Agreed, the Moroso pans aren't a good option.

I can tell you that the Canton pans are a god send for the RR mustangs. The baffels work very well never starving the pick up for oil. We have used them for years and have never had an issue. they are a bit expensive up front but a $300-$400 pan is always cheaper than rebuilding a motor.

If you are interested in ordering one let me know as we carry Canton as one of our products.

Shoot me an email if you want more info.

my experience with a moroso pan on my old b16 was a leaking pan. Either the pan wasn't welded completely or it flex'd when I installed it (swore I followed the install rules).

Just wondering if anyone has any personal experience or has heard any reliable feedback regarding the Canton oil pans?

I have the Canton RR oil pan for B-series. The inside of the pan looks badass with trap doors but fitment sucks. I still haven't completed the install. Had to modify the outer lip near the rear half shaft to get it to clear the half shaft joint and axle. Then still didn't fit. (Trying to do all this while under the car) Finally pulled out my spare B16 block (completey bare), turned it upside down and finally figured out the studs for the windage tray hit the outer lip of the Canton pan in two places. The Canton pan is completely rectangular with a huge outer lip, while the OE pan has a curved shape to clear things like the axle and half shaft joint. Side note: you would not be able to use the aluminum ITR tranny/engine bracket which is also the flywheel cover. Other B-series have a 3 peice design - 2 brackets and 1 flywheel cover. Oh, one more poor design choice is that the oil drain plug will not allow you to completely drain all the oil. E-mail me for the pics.

I went with the Mugen pan. Can't beat $270, and its a modified stock pan, so no fitment issues.

Moroso makes a road race pan now that to me looks way better than the canton one. I have the drag one on my car right now fitment was perfect no mods needed no warping, no leaking. I always have very good oil pressure never starved even under hard accel since that is what they designed it for.

For those that have said bad things about the Moroso pan how about a little info to back up your opinions. I will go with moroso when I get in the market for a RR oil pan.

That's very good to know re: fitment. Regarding the Moroso pan, the site says:
"Includes 6 trap doors, 2 baffles and a removable sump tray that keeps the oil contained in the pickup area during hard acceleration, cornering and braking"

Where are the trap doors located because Moroso doesn't show any interior shots of the pan showing those trap doors. I just want to make absolutely sure that it is RR worthy rather than more drag/street oriented.

For at least our d-series civic. Moroso makes a good pan for RR...how do I know?

I worked with them developing it.

I had problems w/ oil pressure, they made me a pan, I went & raced w/ it, sent them in-car camera footage (pointed so they could see my oil gauges). They decided "it wasn't good enough," so had me send it back, they baffled/modified it more & shipped it back to me..no problems after that, they "liked" what the gauges said in my in-car, & it was put in production. (& I got an oil pan for free for doing development/testing for them. ) I did eventually have some issues w/ a small leak, but it was 100% my fault as I over-tightened the nut after an oil-change & stripped it.

I couldn't find the 'road race' pan on their site for the D series. You are running the D16Z6 still, right? Could you give me the part number?

I did see some nice pans for the 1.8 L engines in the 'new products' section.

yea- still running d16z6- i'll see what I can find- this was made for us about 4 or 5 yrs ago now, & ours being a "prototype" doesn't have a part # on it. We were wanting another one (so both main & spare engines are "ready to go") I'll reply as soon as I have an answer....it could be that they aren't listing it specifically as a RR pan- in which case (right now is on the car) we'll pull it off & look to compare it to what they do have listed for the engine.

Thanks!

If I end up buying, I will be getting two pans as well. It would be cool if they made them out of steel like the new Integra pans they are offering. Keep the cost down?

Damn, stock is low in Canada for the b-series Moroso pan. I have someone trying to track one down but it may take a while. What is the price in the US for this? I've been quoted about $400 Canadian which equates to about $340 US I think.
