You can work the down to id say 14,500....Those dealers will act like your offer is totally outrageous, they will make you feel like you are offering **** in a bag vs thier asking price, those prices are always jacked up. Jolt their senses by being dead set on getting a deal, eventually, after they feel that stalling will not cause you to give in, you will settle at a decent price.
I went with my cousin to buy his 97 SS s-10 with the zq-8 suspension and they wanted $8200 for it, we talked them down to $6100
and that is a 100% true happening story. Our simple strength was us standing our ground and US making the prices, not them. THey will counter offer, never pause and think, then they think they are getting to you, just tell them straight out what YOU will pay them. When it boils down to it, the salesman will sell as long as his supervisor in "the meeting room" says it's okay to sell at that price. If all else fails, tell them to **** off and leave your number and tell them to call you if they decide to sell at that price and only that price....They are more desperate for thier commision than they lead you to believe.

I just looked up the book price of the lude, and wow that is really a good deal! You dont find dealerships offering such a reasonable price, but even so, you can still talk them down some.

sounds like a pretty sweet car. Nice mileage too! I'd pay around that for it too, but try to see if you can get him down a little. I wish my car only had that many miles on it
just make sure that the dealer isnt a car lot. I noticed that preludes of all generations at car lots were almost always messed up in some way or another mechanically.
A dealer is usually used in referencing a dealership who deals with a certain brand of cars, like a GM dealer, or a VW/Audi dealer...A car lot us usually used in reference to a general used car lot which sells a number of random used cars....It's all a matter of preference, it's basically the same crap.
oh. deng its that simple. i feel dumb hahaha.
i got my car from a car lot. i think they jacked the price up too much. i was only 15 so i didn't really now any better yet. being 17 two years and three months older i realize i could of got a better price and maybe even get a vtec. hahaha i thought they were all vtec.

That's more like it....You did good, 16.8K is still a good price, especially since you took him down almost 10% off the asking.

carfax it too. if ur going to spend 16,800 ...spend like 20 dollars and get the vin number from the car and carfax it. you can make the dealer give you a copy of a RECENT carfax report too..well, i dont know if they do it but u can tell him to. if he dosent do it, you can always do it urself.
You shouldn't buy a prelude because.
1. they burn oil.
2. ATTS has ECM problems, and are prone to failure.
3. PITA to change clutch on SH.
4. did I say they burn oil?
