I recently installed a EDM 90-91 cluster into my crx dx. Everything on the cluster works.. Including the speedo. The only thing that doesnt work is vtec. Before I installed this EDM cluster vtec worked just fine.. Now im getting a CEL 17.. The cable in the trany is secure and tightly in place. As is the cable in the back of the speedo... Any idea's?

 

Did you run a VSS wire to the ecu?

 

?? No.. I assume there was one there.. Since Vtec was working with a DX cluster. The A2 pin is suppose to have a VSS.. Its currently empty.. Also, I have 1 extra red wire from doing the guage cluster swap.

Its a cable cluster, no need.

Hmm, ya I need to verify my pinout, ill do that this weekend when I am done with school for the week. Mine runs with no codes, so ill let ya know.

You know that link that was in the other post, try wiring it just like the picture.

 

I did actually..You had the oil light and the parking brake light mixed up but i took care of it.

STill no vtec.. wtf... no blown fuse 15 either

 

I know this is super old but my buddy is having the exact problem.. We just changed the oil pump and it's still the same. Anybody know what it could be?

Did you swap the EDM gauges onto your old original USDM cluster? The printed board om am EDM cluster is different than the USDM cluster.

Swapping the gauges is the correct way to do a EDM cluster swap.

didn't even notice the age on the original post, I feel like a noob.

 

He has a 89 dx and put a 91 ex cluster.. But same problem no vtec and code 17.. He rewired everything to work normal. And everything does just no vtec

 

that is your problem. 88-89 and 90-91 have different clusters. you should source out a 88-89 CRX/Civic clutser
