ecu questions and i have no clue how this is possible
ok here is the deal i put a b16 civic in my 97 civic lx. i have a chipped p28 that i was running on it and it was mis-firing, acting funny and was not letting me get the engine going like it should. the ecu was idling at about 400 rpms to 600 rpms. so i took the chip out and then the engine was idling at 2000 rpms. now here is the kicker i put my stock 97 lx ecu in and it purred like a happy cat it was so smooth no mis-fire nothing i even took it for a test run around the block and it ran perfect. little problem but it is minor like antifreeze and a exhaust leak but it was running so good. now i don't know what to do next is the ecu shot? should i throw the chip out and get a new one? should get a new ecu? i need some advise thanks guys
It could be due to the IACV, as the P28 looks for a 2 wire IACV, whereas the 96+ Civic DX/LX has a 3 wire IACV, if I am correct..
nope i had that as a cel and i fixed it i thought it was it as well but it is not i am thinking it is the ecu because why would it do that?

hey i will go for it let me see how it runs with my boys ecu and if there is a difference then i will get one but do you think that my ecu is bad or what? let me know what you think
If you are not getting any CEL's then you can pretty much rule out the wiring and ECU harness. There's a lot of chipped ECU's out there that haven't been properly chipped and/or damaged in the process. Not to mention all the countless "make your car run like ***" chips that are floating around. It would be best to have your ECU checked out and possibly rechipped by a well-known ECU expert - contact Kenji, Katman (K@man), Newman, etc. here on H-T if you want to go that route. A P30 would best suit the motor if it's basically stock with minor bolt-ons.
