i'm building my 2000 si. i have o/s ctr pistons and stock rods...someone mentioned to me that the rods MIGHT need to be notched to fit in the pistons. can anyone here confirm or deny this, and possibly shed some light on the topic?

ive never herd that before.....

 

looks like the info from this thread means the b16 rods have to be machined for all ctr pistons; standard bore or oversize bore.

yes I've heard something like that before too.

 

Yes you must mill about 1mm of each side of the rod. Make sure you replace the rod bolts when you do it.
