Default Leak

my car is up on jackstands right now due to brake replacement and i noticed a build up of leaked fluid right underneath where the timing belt (i believe) is...i smelt it and it had no odor so i tasted it a little bit and it tasted sweet. I believe that would be antifreeze but from where?

EDIT: Now that i looked a little closer it looks as it is dripping off of the oil pan...

The only component that can cause a coolant leak in the timing belt area is the waterpump.
You said replaced it recently. Was it an aftermarket unit? If so, that is probably the problem. I stopped installing aftermarket waterpumps in my customers cars after three came back leaking in less that 6 months. Had to replace them for free.
I have no such problems with OEM pumps.

yeah, if some jackass didn't put silicone on the pump it could leak slowly...water pump is the only way I can see it getting inside the timing belt cover

Yeah, on the family minivan my dad has replaced no fewer than four water pumps. Trying every aftermarket brand he could get his hands on...finally broke down and payed out the *** for the dealer pump.

Why do you need silicone? I haven't used it and haven't had any problems. I did use a new water pump gasket every time though.

Also, it doesn't call out to use silicone in the Helms.

Yeah, don't need silicone... a new gasket is all you need. Unless you are a redneck and pried the pump off with a big screwdriver.

i agree with the waterpump... if you really dont wanna spring for a new one, or a gasket or any of that crap... you could spend money on something most people will never waste their money on... that dye that glows under a blacklight whilst wearing stupid plastic yellow goggles...

i dunno what that **** is called, but its fun.

As I recall, an O ring gasket is used at the WP, silicone grease should be used on this rubber ( holds it in place). RTV ? adhesive will probably mess things up..
Never had any trouble with aftermarket, but I bet some are junk !!
Manufacturers outsource the WPs ,I think, so I would think the "AM"(aftermarket) would be the same..

That "O-ring" is the water pump gasket. If you buy an OEM water pump it comes already put into the groove of the water pump. It has not come out on me while installing one. You don't need the silicone.

First off everyone can **** off!!! That said the bearings kept failing...and not because he overtightened the belt.

The manufacturer of the waterpump (new aftermarket) suggested using both the seal and RTV. They provided both so why not use them. I don't give a **** what the Helms says about it, they didn't make the pump...aka **** off TouringAccord.

wow, first off, check your attitude at the door **** nut.

I never gave you an attitude so don't be sending it my way. Just because someone pissed you off doesn't mean you go at everyone else for it.

I've had other disagreements with you and never really liked you since.

TI was just making a statement with no attitude or anything and because you got pissed at another member you tell me to "**** off", you're the one that needs to **** off.

Half of the comments of yours I've seen have been negative, giving others an attitude like your the **** don't stink. You seriously need to clam the **** down and respect other opinions as they do of yours. It's a public forum with many members so it's basically impossible for everyone to get along but you don't need to be suck an ***. Grow the **** up.
