Quick stupid question....

How do you tell if the engine is JDM or USDM? Thanks in advance.

you look at the engine codes , if its japanese you will know its japanese and if its usdm then you will know. This only works if you memorized all the different types of engine codes.

jdm engines have 4 characters in the block code.
example-b16a is jdm and b16a1 is usdm.

that's really the only way you'll know. If you get the code you can look it up...
