Need Help with Automatic
This may be a simple question, but I don't know and I tried searching....
I have an automatic and recently in the last week or so, it's been more difficult to get the gear out of park. When I depress the brake pedal to move from park to D4 or reverse, it does nothing and sticks in park, and there is no clicking noise to indicate ability to change gears. Usually after pressing on the brake pedal numerous times, it will allow me to switch gears, but this can't be normal... any ideas?
Also, I've noticed while braking, the car brakes, but the taillights and rear mount brake light does not light up occasionally. I think it'd be related to the other problem
Please Help! Thanks

There is a celinoid (sp?) that will trigger the shifter release. Looks lik you need to replace it.
The brake lights not always working could be attributed to the celinoid being bad.

probably your lock up solenoid as others have stated. they are pretty simple to replace, you should be able to remove and install them by just moving the intake out of the way.
if the problem is your lock up solenoids i have a 94 Accord EX auto transmission sitting in my garage with lock up solenoids still on it. the solenoids are still in working order, i dont need them cuz i converted to a manual tranny and have no use for the entire auto tranny. $30 and their yours. I can scan the helms manual on how to replace them, its pretty easy about a 15min job.

It triggers the lights & also triggers a solenoid at the shift lever to release the lever & allow it to move. There might be a relay in that circuit, maybe the PCM is even involved in it. Find a wiring drawing for your year Accord.

Thanks! It was the brake/stoplight switch that was the problem. My dad helped me put it on, it wasn't hard. Installation took about 5-10 minutes, he popped it off and inserted the new one connecting it with a cable, I believe. btw, it was $29 and in stock at autozone. thanks again.
